RE: Which Chevy chassis do I have?

Your class "C" Chev Express Chassis is listed as a "G" series in all GM parts catologues.I have a 2006 Express chassis with a Four Winds 31 ft. body on it.The unit weighs 13,500 lbs and handles very well in wind ,trucks passing and also on extreme bends or winding roads.I always make sure the tire pressure is at the proper PSI cold before any trip. This can make a big difference on the handling if you have under inflated tires. Our unit also is equipped with massive OEM sway bars front and back. Our old 1985 GMC 21 Ft never handled as good as this unit does. Most times it is one hand on the wheel.
Also check the Michelin website on tire pressures for motorhomes,it's very informative and give you a new look at the importance of proper tire pressure.

RE: Use of RV Stabilizers with a Class C

I found that 4-6000 lb scissor jacks work great when you need a little more lift to level our 31 ft 4 Winds. I use a 18 volt Dewalt cordless drill and a socket adapter to drive the jack screws. The jacks are positioned at the rear of the rear springs and lift at the frame rails and the front jacks lift at the front frame horns, just ahead of the front suspension.these jacks will help in moderate levelling and take the bounce out of the suspension when camped.I also apply the emergency brake to stop any rocking back and forth. It's my inexpensive way of not investing in the high priced hydraulics that I would love to have but can't aford.

RE: Deep Cycle Battery, Which Brand???

If you want a good deep cycle battery, try a Delco Professional Series
battery. They are not cheap but they are one of the best. You get what you pay for.I have one in my race truck and it sat for two years without use until I decided to move the truck. It cranked the engine just like it was charged an hour before.I also replaced the Interstate that came with our 2006 4 Winds with the Delco this July. The battery wouldn't last an hour or two when it lost it's charge. It was supposed to be only 2 years old,but who knows how long it was sitting arund before being installed in our unit.I work at a GM dealer and yes we have had some bad batteries from new or otherwise but the general average is a real good track record for quality.

RE: Anybody Canceling Trips Because Of Fuel Prices?

The first time we ever went on a trip to a campground I was wondering what other campers got for gas milage in their units.Well I got a chance to ask the question to a older gentleman with a fairly new "C" class and his answer was,If you have to ask about gas milage than you shouldn't own one.I have found this very true and don't let it bother me at fillup time when the Motorhome is just about empty.I just use the excuse that it's very thirsty and think about the fun and enjoyment that we are going to have.Keep in mind that a hotel room is more expensive than filling that gas tank when away for the same amount of time, plus its your home away from home.

RE: KODIAK FUEL CAPACITY

I had a Problem from the day we first tried to fill up our 31 Ft Four Winds class "C" Workhorse chassis. It could take up to a half hour if I was very patient at the pumps.I tried different Gas stations with lots of slope at the pumps but with no luck. After I realized that GM would not build something that didn't work properly,I started to investigate the fill pipe and hoses.I found that the fill pipe was tilted up at an angle inside the body and the hose to the tank was routed down under a body cross rail which worked like a sink trap. After changing the angle on the fill pipe and rerouting the fill hose to be above the top of the gas tank instead of being below by 8 to 10 inches,I was amazed at the difference.55 Gallons in approx 10 minutes or less and right to the cap too.No more dragging it out and loosing patience and quitting before the tank was full. It's worth the time to take a look at your setup.

RE: KODIAK FUEL CAPACITY

I have Four Winds class "C" 31Ft Workhorese chassis. From the first time I did a fillup the trouble started. It would take at least 20 minutes plus just to get enough gas to do a trip (not a full tank). After a few times of frustration trying to get a good slope at the pumps or just being stuborn to try and fill it up, I gave up.Finally I realized GM would not produce a product that would not work properly. Upon inspecting the fill tube I found two problems. The fill pipe was installed sloping back towards the the gas cap and the hose to the tank was routed down under a body cross rail that caused it to be lower than the top of the tank inlet. After changing the fill pipe angle and rerouting the hose to the tank I can pump 55 gallons in record time up to the gas cap. Take a look,it was easier to go around something than to look for a proper route.

RE: KODIAK FUEL CAPACITY

Can any of you kodiak c5500 owners help me. We have an 06 endura with an 8.1 liter eng. The sales brocure from Gulf Sream specifies an 80gal. fuel tank. The build sheet from GM says i have an 80gal. fuel tank. But with 8600 miles on the odometer and alot of fill ups, My tank never takes more than 65 gal. I am interested to know how much your unit usually takes at the pump with needle on empty. Average mpg and range would also be helpfull. thanks in advance!
